Welcome to WiseOldSayings.com, created by Betsy and Tom Sullivan. (Betsy formerly wrote a newsletter on frugality and creativity called "Balancing Act". The newsletter is archived at MrsBunny.com). Here at WiseOldSayings you will find a list of wise old sayings from all over the world that we have compiled in our Wise Old Sayings directory. To make it as easy as possible to use this directory, we offer three ways to search for a saying.

Method 1: Search for a key word(s) in the saying. Please note that the search engine will display the saying before and the saying after the target saying from the directory when retrieving your search results. Also note that the search engine places advertisments at the top of each display of retrieved sayings.

HAPPY HUNTING!

We have also compiled a list of Wise "New" Sayings and Humorous Sayings, Jokes and Funny Short Stories for your reading pleasure.

We are no longer writing our "Snippets" ezine, but feel free to sneak a peak at past issues in our archives section.

Our directories are constantly being updated with additional sayings and we frequently add new features. For example, check out the new Poetry/Short Prose/Short Essay directory, featuring works some of which have been submitted by you, our readers. So we hope you will stop by often to see what's new and to use our directories. Occasionally readers have questions and those we can't answer are listed below for your help.

If you've profited in life from the sayings listed in our directories or have simply enjoyed browsing our directories, our efforts have been worthwhile. E-mail us if you have a heartwarming or uplifting or otherwise moving story to share and we'll post it for others to read.

Submit a Wise Old Saying

If you know a wise old saying that is not in our Wise Old Sayings Directory, send it to WiseOldSayings@aol.com. Please include the author and/or origin of the saying if you know it.

Please let us know if you see any mistakes in our directory. Many sayings were used by several authors, but we are striving to give credit to the original sources in all cases. We are maintaining this site in our spare time, so any criticisms you have, please "cushion them with compliments":)

Create a Wise "New" Saying or submit a Poem or Short Prose Piece or Short Essay or a Humorous Saying, Joke or Funny Story

If you have a wise saying or a short poem or a short prose piece or essay (say within 300 words) or a joke or humorous story that you'ld like to share, send it along with your name to WiseOldSayings@aol.com. It might be chosen to be part of our Wise New Sayings Directory or our Humorous Directory or our Poetry/Prose/Essay/ Directory, as appropriate.
